Dennis Johnson Named 2017 Tigard Chamber Volunteer of the Year
Dennis Johnson, Owner of Center Street Gold & Silver, has been named the 2017 Tigard Shining Stars Chamber Volunteer of the Year. This award honors a Chamber member who has volunteered many hours of time, talent and energy to the success and growth of the Tigard Chamber. Bert Tousey and his example of Chamber volunteerism is commitment at its best. This person is an example of an active member who has sustained their efforts on behalf of the Chamber over a long period of time. By their efforts, they have made this organization more effective in serving the Tigard community.
Shortly after joining the Tigard Chamber in 2015, Dennis threw himself wholeheartedly into the chamber by becoming a Tigard Chamber Ambassador. As such, he has been a vocal advocate for the chamber and for other chamber members. He does this by giving weekly shout outs, through links on his website, Facebook and other social media channels, and online reviews. In addition, he routinely attends our networking events, brings valuable raffle prizes, and utilizes our $5 Announcements, all which helps generate funds for chamber programs.
Dennis is enthusiastic about our chamber, has gone above and beyond his role as an Ambassador and does numerous things to help other members succeed. He is an advocate of all things Tigard Chamber and does everything he can to promote doing business in Tigard, helping the Tigard Community, and helping our members gain visibility. These have included:
Hosting Good Morning Tigard (GMT) numerous times each year at other members’ business locations which provides visibility for that member.
Paying for members to host GMT when they couldn’t afford it otherwise.
Encouraging members to Shop Local by buying Shop Local pins and giving them away when they come to his business.
Doing contests to encourage members to review each others businesses on Google, Yelp and Facebook, including significant prizes to the winner that he provides.
2nd year Co-Title Sponsor of the Tigard Shining Stars Community Awards Event.
Donor to numerous causes in Tigard including the Tigard Tualatin Relay for Life, Undergarment Drive, Tigard High School youth clubs and activities.
Please join us in congratulating Dennis on this well-deserved award. This award will be formally presented with other Tigard volunteer and business awards at Tigard’s 2017 Shining Stars Community Awards Celebration, sponsored by Title Sponsors Center Street Gold & Silver and HomeStreet Bank (King City) and held on Friday, April 28th from 5:30-9 p.m. at Embassy Suites – Washington Square, event location host.
