GNC donation

Tigard, OR (5/16/21)– Tigard families in need just got a large delivery of supplies to help meet their needs during the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to Leadership Tigard, a program of the Tigard Chamber of Commerce.

Class participants in the 2021 graduating class of Leadership Tigard collected items for the Good Neighbor Center, which provides emergency housing and supportive, empowering services to parents and their children.

Class members recently donated:

-890 individual diapers                               -108 washcloths                   -45 bath towels                    -30 hand towels

-11 sheet sets, 1 fitted sheet                     -5 twin comforters              -5 pillows                               -1 complete twin bed set

-feminine hygiene products                      -toothbrushes/paste           -shampoo/soap                    -hand lotion

-coffee/tea                                                    -Kool-Aid                               -soup/chili                             -mouthwash

-protein drinks                                             -granola bars                        -Rice-A-Roni                          -toilet paper

-children’s toothbrushes                            -sunflower seeds                 -razors                                    -dental proxa brushes

“This is really incredible. To get a mass donation like this, this is months’ worth of supplies,” said Andrew Mahalik, the Outreach Coordinator at Good Neighbor Center.  “With COVID we haven’t been able to accept used cloth materials, so we’ve been going through these rapidly as families move in and out. To be able to provide a touch of home, that really enhances the program we’re able to provide here. It’s been challenging to make it through this last year, but because of generous donations like this, we’ve been able to make it happen.”

While this donation represents a significant boost to the Good Neighbor Center, the need doesn’t stop here. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to contribute to health struggles, job loss and financial hardship for so many, service providers like the Good Neighbor Center still need your help. Please consider sharing this need with your own networks to continue donating goods and supplies. You can find a current ‘wish list’ at https://goodneighborcenter.org/current-needs-list/.

The 2020-2021 Leadership Tigard class also volunteered for Packed with Pride, to assemble 800 food boxes for families in the Tigard-Tualatin School District.
