Maureen Wolf Named 2023 Tigard Chamber “From the Heart” Award Recipient

Maureen Wolf has been selected as the 2023 Tigard Shining Stars “From the Heart” Volunteer of the Year.

Named in honor of Jim Hartman who set the standard for this award by his example of giving from the heart to his community, and the “From the Heart” award honors a person who has dedicated their time and energy to a specific cause in the Tigard community.  This person gives willingly, energetically and consistently; they might be well known or might be a “quiet” volunteer, who always gives “from the heart”!

Maureen Wolf was selected for this award for her dedication to the Tigard Community through her volunteerism and fundraising efforts over the past 25+ years. She has specifically helped Tigard Tualatin School District connect deeper to its community, provide needed services when there were gaps, and create a TTSD community that attracts families to have the desire to make Tigard their place to call home. Here are just a few of the project she has been part of in our community when it has needed it most:

Served as Director of Fundraising on the Election Information Advisory Committee (EIAC) since 2004, this citizen group has successfully passed several TTSD Bond Measures to build or update schools and levy measures to provide ongoing funding to hire teachers and maintain school programs, even during times of deep budget cuts. She Cofounded Packed with Pride, a community-based food program founded during the pandemic when school buildings were closed and impacted and students in need and their families could not access food normally received from the school district. Since founding Packed with Pride has provided over 52,000 food boxes and raised over $850,000 for food boxes to serve Tigard and Tualatin families in need.

President of Oregon School Boards Association 2021, where she has been on the Board of OSBA since 2014.

NW Regional Education Service District Board Member 2021 to present.

As if that was not enough, she is a sitting City Councilor working overtime to serve her communities needs best.

In her own words during her recent election cycle she had this to say about her community efforts, “As a Tigard resident for over 24 years, I have a deep commitment to my community. I was raised in rural Indiana and understood the importance of community involvement from a young age. Both my parents were actively engaged as community volunteers. My father served on the school board and acted as a role model for me when I chose to serve as a local school board member for the Tigard-Tualatin School District. Public education is foundational to democracy. Every child must have access to a quality education and a thriving local community.”
