The Tigard Farmers Market is proud to be entering our 34th season in 2026! What started with 18 vendors in 1993 has grown into a beloved weekly tradition – bringing the community together to enjoy local food, connect with farmers, and support small businesses.
I recently had the opportunity to attend the 10th annual National Farmers Market Conference, InTents. It was inspiring to connect with peers from across the US and Canada and hear fresh ideas from experts within the farmers market community and from leaders in related fields. The sessions offered new ways to think about the role markets play in our communities.
A few themes really stood out: the importance of biodiversity in building strong, sustainable food systems; the idea of the market as a space for connection and belonging; and the need for resiliency in the face of ongoing challenges. There was also a strong focus on building partnerships to help markets grow and better serve their communities.
I’m excited to bring these ideas back to Tigard as we head into a new season, continuing to support our vendors and strengthen the market for years to come. At the Tigard Farmers Market, we’re proud to cultivate a space where relationships are built, cultures are shared, and people feel a true sense of belonging. We look forward to another great season with our community!
