FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 1, 2013 (Tigard, OR) — Burgerville has signed on as a major sponsor to support the Tigard Area Chamber of Commerce to launch the 20th Season of the Tigard Area Farmers Market (TAFM). The Market is set to open Sunday, May 12, 2013 on Mother’s Day. Welcoming entrance signage will help patrons find the Market at its new, more community-focused location in the City of Tigard Public Works parking lot at corner of Burnham and Hall Blvd. (8777 SW Burnham St.)
“All of us at Burgerville are proud to be part of Tigard,” said Beth Kelly, Tigard’s Burgerville General Manager. “The Tigard Area Farmers Market is an important place for the community to come together and enjoy fresh, local food much like our restaurants. We would love to see our partnership with Tigard Area Farmers Market help sustain and increase the number of farms in the Washington County Area.”
Burgerville’s support of the market allows the TAFM to keep its booth rates low to support accessibility for a wide variety of potential vendors. This variety and the newer more accessible location is designed to enhance the Sunday community experience for Tigard’s residents and visitors to the area as well as make high quality locally grown food available to more people.
Burgerville’s direct participation in the event is still being designed, but likely will include appearances by its Nomad mobile kitchen with a limited menu of hamburgers and seasonal items like fresh berry lemonades for purchase. Burgerville’s sponsorship will also help support TAFM’s focus on sustainability via the investment in more permanent recycling stations for patrons and vendors. Burgerville also hopes to showcase the local farmers and ranchers who supply the food to its restaurants, beyond those who in past years have been present at the market.
This focus is in line with the TAFM’s goal of being a community-gathering place, where farmers, community and non-profits can come together in a way that benefits all.
“We are very excited about this community partnership with Burgerville and thank them for their help in promoting our new location that is more community accessible with its proximity to Tigard Library, the Jim Griffith skate park, Fanno Creek Trail, Ash Street Dog Park and Downtown Tigard. Ours will be a great partnership in building community in Tigard while focusing on fresh, local food products,” stated Debi Mollahan, CEO of the Tigard Chamber.
