Brandon Liang Named 2020 Tigard Shining Stars Youth Volunteer of the Year
Brandon Liang has been selected as the 2020 Tigard Youth Volunteer of the Year, named in honor of former Mayor Jim Nicoli, who passed away in 2000. Mayor Nicoli’s dedication to the youth of our community was a fitting way to honor his name and award a youth in our community who volunteers to make a difference. Many young people in Tigard are active in volunteer efforts and it is our pleasure to acknowledge their contributions of dedication, energy and community spirit. They are our future!
Brandon is heavily involved at the Tigard Public Library. He participated in their regular Saturday Teen Volunteer program, is a Teen Leader during their Summer Teen Volunteer program and is involved in their Teen Library Council Advising group. All while, assisting with other miscellaneous projects and events in the youth services.
Katherine Nelson with the Tigard Public Library says “Brandon is incredibly reliable, and really shows that he cares through his service. He is prompt and a great leader.” Katherine goes on to say “Brandon is committed to honoring diversity, equity, and inclusion in the library, and is a youth volunteer we absolutely treasure.”
Please join us in congratulating Brandon on this well-deserved award. His award will be formally presented with other Tigard volunteer and business awards at Tigard’s 2020 Shining Stars Community Awards, held on Friday, October 23rd from 7-9 p.m. virtually on the Tigard Chamber Facebook page and YouTube channel.
