Beach Hut Deli – Tigard Named 2020 Tigard Chamber Business of the Year

Beach Hut Deli, Owned by Chris Haedinger, has been selected as the 2020 Tigard Chamber Business of the YearThis award recognizes a chamber business that has made in-depth contributions to the Tigard community through their business. The winner is active, involved, interested, and enthusiastic about continuing to make Tigard a destination of choice for local business. Nominee must be a current dues paying member.

Beach Hut Deli opened in Downtown Tigard in July of 2017 and has been a Tigard Chamber member since 2018.

From opening day, Chris Haedinger and his team at Beach Hut Deli have been making an impact in the Tigard community through sponsorship, donations and volunteerism.

Beach Hut Deli is often seen as a sponsor for different community sports teams. They have hosted many fundraiser nights for local non-profits and schools that include but not limited to St. Anthony Catholic Church, Charles F. Tigard Elementary School, Fowler Middle School and the Arthritis Foundation.

Beach Hut Deli has also been a huge supporter of the Tigard/ Tualatin Relay for Life, donating food for their team captain meetings, survivor lunches and as a monetary sponsor over the last couple of years. The Tigard/ Tualatin Relay for Life’s Past Co-Chair, Megan De Salvo, says “Beach Hut Deli has been involved with Relay for Life of Tigard / Tualatin / Sherwood for the past several years. First coming in as a Survivor Lunch Sponsor providing meals for over 100 Cancer Survivors and raising a significant amount of money for the event, including over $500 from dine and donate nights. They have stepped up and increased their involvement and fundraising each year, playing a pivotal role alongside other Downtown Tigard businesses in helping the event exceed $100,000 in 2019. 

In Downtown Tigard, Beach Hut Deli is always one of the first businesses to sign up for the various programs and events put on by the Tigard Downtown Alliance. Some examples are Small Business Saturday, Tigard Drinks for Good, Trick or Treat Main Street and the Downtown Tigard Street Fair. Chris also helped contribute to the fund to purchase the art piece “Mobius” that sits in front of the Tigard Chamber of Commerce building.

Chris has been a supporter of the Tigard Chamber of Commerce not only by being a member, but by also being a sponsor for several annual events including Tigard Bowl-O-Rama, Tigard Farmers Market Farm to Table Dinner and past Tigard Shining Stars Community Awards Gala.  

Outside of monetary contributions, Chris volunteers his time as a member of the City of Tigard Town Center Advisory Committee and board member for the Tigard Downtown Alliance. He also self-selected to go through the Leadership Tigard community leadership program and played a huge role in the class project to raise funds for the Chelsea Hicks Foundation.
